We’re excited to officially kick off the 2026 United Way of Greater Charlottesville Laurence E. Richardson Day of Caring, presented by Sentara and the University of Virginia, happening on Wednesday, September 16, 2026! This is a great opportunity for your group (whether it is a business or other organization, club, etc.) to make a real impact by signing up as a Volunteer Team or for your qualifying organization to receive volunteer support!

Each year, thousands of community members come together to support local nonprofits, schools, and faith-based organizations through a myriad of volunteer projects spread at sites across our region.

Here’s how to get involved as a volunteer:
- Choose a Team Leader (that could be you!)
- Recruit coworkers, friends, family, etc. to join your team (it can be any size!)
- Fill out the Team Registration Form
- Decide what kind of project your team would like to work on
- Pick your Day of Caring project on Project Selection Day on Wednesday, August 19
- Show up at Day of Caring on Wednesday, September 16!
Team Leaders are also asked to attend a short, one-hour prep meeting via Zoom on Thursday, August 6 at 2:30pm OR Friday, August 7 at 10am. Times will be coming soon. All registered team leaders will be sent access to the Zoom link training and the project preview list.
