FOR TAXPAYERS

FOR VOLUNTEERS
Email Laura Groff at lgroff@unitedwaytja.org to Join our Cville Tax Aid volunteer team today! Training is easy, hours are flexible, and no prior experience necessary! This tax preparation program provides a vital service to many low-income families in our community while offering a wonderful community service experience.
Individual agency efforts to promote the Earned Income Tax Credit in the Thomas Jefferson Area have been in place for many years. In 2007, Virginia Delegate David J. Toscano initiated a local coalition to coordinate efforts and reach all community members eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Community agencies, businesses, and local government are all part of the coalition.
Partners of the Cville Tax Aid Coalition provide:
- Free tax preparation for eligible taxpayers through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
- Education and outreach to share information about how to claim the earned income tax credit and where to get free tax preparation assistance.
- Employer outreach and education about the earned income tax credit and other financial education programs.
- Financial education including budgeting, credit scores and banking.
- Preview the IRS training materials.
