Through the Family Investment Program, United Way of Greater Charlottesville helps families work to achieve their financial goals. Our partnership-based programs can help to decrease bad debt, raise household income and investments, purchase first homes, and more.

How the Family Investment Program Works 

The Family Investment Program is a partnership-based program that takes a holistic, high-engagement approach to help local families meet their personalized financial stability goals. Read about the experiences of past Family Investment Program participants.

Referral Organizations 

To participate in the Family Investment Program, you must be referred to us by a partner organization. Current referral partners include: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville, International Rescue Committee, Piedmont Housing Alliance, Financial Opportunity Center, and International Neighbors.

Personalized Services 

Once nominations are reviewed, approved Family Investment Program participants will receive individualized plans to reach financial stability. These plans may incorporate matched contributions to emergency savings, down payment assistance on a home or auto loan, and/or debt reduction payments.
