Childcare Scholarships & Mixed Delivery

Our Early Learners Scholarship program provides low-income working families in our community with childcare and early education placements for infant, toddler, and preschool-aged children, in addition to financial relief for parents and guardians.

United Way not just helped me to continue my education and my journey to become a nurse but also helped my son to be able to speak.

How Childcare Scholarships Work

For more than 40 years, United Way of Greater Charlottesville has provided scholarship funding for working families to afford high-quality early childhood care and education. Families who are awarded can move into full-day programs that enable children to thrive and parents to work and scale their careers. These scholarships give children vital access to quality, stable early education environments that help prepare them for future success in school and life.

Reducing Barriers

The Early Learners Scholarships program reduces barriers some families may face when accessing quality education. These scholarships support families working toward financial stability by eliminating the cost of care, which ensures that children arrive at kindergarten ready to succeed and their guardians are also to thrive in their employment.

Mixed Delivery & Other Public Programs

Go2Grow helps families navigate opportunities available through local programs. Plenty of publicly funded programs address the diverse needs of families through free or reduced-cost care, including Head Start, Early Head Start, Virginia Preschool Initiative, Mixed Delivery, and more. The platform notifies families of their eligibility for publicly funded early education programs that may provide free or reduced- cost options.
