It’s going to be a new year. Have you decided how you will engage with our community in 2019? The United Way has taken some of the work out of that question and announces the Mentor and Tutor Volunteer Fair January 11th from 11-2. Come learn what mentoring is all about!

The United Way Thomas Jefferson Area’s Mentor and Tutor Volunteer Fair connects mentoring programs with individuals in the community who are either curious about or eager to get involved with a mentoring program. This year over 10 groups will be present at the Omni Charlottesville Hotel on the downtown mall. You can park for free at the hotel when attending this event. Event address is: 212 Ridge McIntire Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22903.

Come out to meet representatives from Rise Together, Piedmont CASA, Literacy Volunteers, JABA FISH, Greenstone on 5th, Great Expectations at PVCC, Girl Scouts of Virginia, Elk Hill Mentoring, C4K, Charlottesville Scholarship Program, Charlottesville City Schools, CALM- Abundant Life Ministries, Book Buddies, The Adult Learning Center at PVCC, and Network2Work.

Of course, grab a piece of Raising Cane’s chicken and other snacks while you learn about mentoring opportunities. We hope to see you there!

For questions about this fair or volunteering in the Charlottesville area don’t hesitate to reach out to Anna via email: aporter@unitedwaytja.org. She’ll be happy to point you to organizations that are seeking volunteers in the areas you are interested in serving.
