United Way is happy to continue our support for the Virginia Film Festival as the Presenting Sponsor of the Gala Screening of The Piano Lesson. This screening will take place on Friday, November 1st at 7:30pm at The Paramount Theater.
This film is the directorial debut of Malcolm Washington, who also co-wrote this adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by August Wilson. We are excited to see how this powerful and important story of a family working through their enslaved descendants ancestry is brought to life on screen in this highly anticipated film.
This film is the third of Wilson’s plays to be adapted for screen by producer Denzel Washington (Fences, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) and features an all-star cast including John David Washington (BlackKkKlansman), Danielle Deadwyler, Ray Fisher, and Samuel L. Jackson. For more information on tickets, the full schedule, and more, visit the Virginia Film Festival website. We hope to see you at the theater!
