The United Way of Greater Charlottesville is committed to a strong, equitable community where every person can thrive. Through financial stability initiatives, school readiness programs, and innovative partnerships, we work to break down systemic barriers so that all individuals and families have the opportunity to achieve their potential.
In March of 2020 we deployed to the Emergency Operations Center, where we helped coordinate our community’s COVID-19 response. Meanwhile, we distributed more than $3.5 million in emergency funds and helped more than 18,000 individuals afford rent, utilities, food, medication, and other urgent needs.
We envision a stronger, more equitable community, where families (regardless of race or zip code) have ample opportunities to be successful. We’ve set a bold goal for our community: by 2026, we’ll reduce poverty in our planning district by 15%. This means increasing the annual income of a family of 3 to a survival income of $45,000.
Programs like our Family Investment Program, Driving Lives Forward, and Early Learner Scholarships are helping to change outcomes for our partner families. With the help of local organizations, companies, volunteers, and friends like you, we will be able to vastly expand this work to positively impact more families and create generational change.
United Way of Greater Charlottesville has the expertise, resolve, and strong community partnerships to quickly address emergency needs and tackle large, systems-level issues. With your help, we’ll have the necessary resources to transform our community for the long-term.
We believe in something better. No matter the challenge, we stand ready. We stand together.
Join us in envisioning a better Charlottesville by supporting United Way of Greater Charlottesville. Thank you.
