Santa Fund for Schoolkids is an annual, collaborative effort in partnership with The Daily Progress and Newsradio WINA 1070 AM/98.9 FM. It raises funds for local students who need help affording essential items such as weather-appropriate clothing and shoes, medicine, eyeglasses, virtual learning tools, school supplies, books, and more. Our goal this year is to raise $260,000 in order to help more students in the coming year.
Even though “Santa” is in the title, the Santa Fund doesn’t just help local children during the holidays. Year-round, teachers, guidance counselors, and school officials who notice a student in need are able to offer them vouchers redeemable at local partner vendors including Kid-to-Kid, Marshalls, Roses, Shoe Show Inc, and TJMaxx. Parents are also able to make requests to schools themselves. The voucher system allows the students and parents to pick out their items themselves–a component of the program that has received positive feedback all-around.
