Corporate Partnerships
Explore opportunities to help lift 1800 local families out of povertyENVISION is an initiative of United Way of Greater Charlottesville (UWGC) that brings together resources and expertise from across Charlottesville’s social impact sector for a new approach to address generational poverty.
With intrinsic skills as a convener, UWGC is the ideal backbone to move forward a collaborative, partner-driven approach to help lift 1,800 families out of poverty in the Thomas Jefferson Planning District by 2027—of which at least 630 will be Black families.
Recognizing the essential place of education in disrupting the generational cycle of poverty, ENVISION also focuses on strengthened school readiness among economically-disadvantaged children. By 2027, ENVISION aims to increase the number of low-income kindergarteners who pass developmental benchmarks by 10% and increase the number of Black kindergarteners who pass benchmarks by 20%.
Further, ENVISION seeks to connect people across our community through storytelling, radio and other media, art in public spaces, and public events. Only through many voices and perspectives can we come to better understand issues of race, equity, and the condition of living in poverty in Greater Charlottesville.
