United Way of Greater Charlottesville Awards $30,000 to Local Small Businesses Through the 2026 Business Development Grants

We are excited to announce the six local businesses that were selected to receive a 2026 Business Development Grant!

We are very pleased to announce the recipients of the FY2026 Business Development Grants!

The Business Development Grants empower local entrepreneurs and small businesses in Greater Charlottesville by awarding $5,000 to be used for critical business expenses. Through this grant program, United Way of Greater Charlottesville, in partnership with the Minority Business Alliance of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, awarded six grants to:

UWGC is honored to help uplift local businesses such as these that help make the Greater Charlottesville economy vibrant and strong. These businesses also bring products, services, employment, and livelihood to local families! The grants will be used to promote the businesses’ growth and/or sustainment, which will include purchasing equipment and supplies, hiring staff, and investments in operations and/or promotions.

These awards were given out at the Minority Business Alliance Gala: The Year of The Sunset on Friday, October 10. Markiana Smith, our Engagement and Belonging Manager, hosted the awards alongside her Envision Radio cohost Price Thomas. Plus, our Financial Empowerment Manager Jay Bradford was honored with the 2025 J.F. Bell Sr. Vanguard Award.
