Last weekend, Women United members gathered together for their fall service project: assembling New Mom Kits for Stepping Stone Charlottesville! This volunteer opportunity was a fantastic representation of Women United’s commitment to uplifting women and children in the Greater Charlottesville region through service and advocacy.
Women United members filled 60 goodie bags with essential items for babies such as wipes, diapers, and bottles as well as comfort items for moms. Members also thoughtfully hand wrote a card for each kit. While putting the kits together, they also got to hear directly from Stepping Stone about some of the current needs of new moms and their families in our community. Stepping Stone will distribute the New Mom Kits this fall and winter to families in need.
Members who weren’t able to join for the service project in person also has the opportunity to participate in the service project! In the weeks leading up to the project, Women United members helped provide supplies for the New Mom Kits by dropping off materials at United Way’s office and/or donating funds.
Thank you to all the Women United members for spending a lovely November Saturday morning giving back, learning more about our community’s needs, and of course engaging with other members! And of course, thank you to Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital for hosting the project and to Stepping Stone!
