Women United in Philanthropy, in partnership with United Way of Greater Charlottesville, aims to engage with the community and uplift local organizations focused on supporting women and children.

Now entering its 20th year of service to the community, Women United in Philanthropy (WUP) is excited to announce that the application for its 2025 Human Services Grants cycle is now open! Grants will support organizations serving local women and/or children in Charlottesville, VA and/or Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, and Orange Counties. WUP will be awarding a total of $60,000 in grants in May 2025, with selected organizations receiving between $2,500 and $10,000 each in unrestricted funding.

Grant consideration is open to any organization meeting the following eligibility requirements:

  • Is a 501(c)(3) organization (or has a demonstrable nonprofit fiscal agent) in existence for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Serves women and/or children in Charlottesville and/or the Virginia counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, or Orange. (Please note that organizations may serve other populations in addition to women or children.)
  • Has not received a grant from Women United in Philanthropy in the past 2 years (2023 or 2024).

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FROM FEBRUARY 19 TO MARCH 19

The newly revised, simple, online application will remain open until March 19! WUP will announce the grant awards on or before May 15, 2025. You can find the application online via WUP’s website or at https://bit.ly/2025_WUP_Grants. WUP operates in partnership with United Way of Greater Charlottesville, with the collective goals of uplifting local families and making a positive impact on our communities through grantmaking, advocacy, awareness-building, and philanthropy.

GRANTS FOCUS ON HELPING LOCAL WOMEN AND CHILDREN

“Women United in Philanthropy is excited to celebrate our 20th anniversary by awarding grants to local nonprofits doing amazing things in our community. WUP fosters a culture of collegiality and philanthropy with a commitment to positively impacting the lives of local women and children,” said Mac Weems, Women United in Philanthropy Committee Chair. “It’s so inspiring to learn about the wonderful work that impacts the lives of our neighbors and friends. Our community is truly one of kind when it comes to supporting one another, and we feel honored to play a part in it!”

Through last year’s grants program, WUP awarded a total of $50,000 to Charlottesville Free Clinic and Foothills Child Advocacy Center for their respective community-oriented programs focusing on women and children. WUP encourages programs that meet the requirements to apply by March 19, 2025!
